Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE JAMES (JIM) COSENS Suddenly on May 4, 2001 at St. Boniface Hospital, it is with profound sadness that we, his loving family, announce the passing of Jim Cosens at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his children: Edwin and wife Linda (Shayne, Sherry), Pat Rowley and husband Archie Thompson (Lance Rowley and Victoria, Carmen and Dal Dudar, Riley Thompson), Carolyn LaRocque and husband Dennis (Donavin, Russell and Terri, Bradley), Darlene Todoruk and husband David (Bryanne, Harrison), Thelma (Erin and Jim Nikkel), Ronald and Billy; great-grandchildren, Brook and Sierra LaRocque and Benjamin Nikkel. He is also survived by his brother Leslie and his wife Millie; his sisters-in-law Maude Isted, Val Torrence, Lorna Theriault, Leslee Coolidge and Sandra Baker, and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Rosemary (1997), his parents Ella and Russell, his brother John, an infant sister, and sister-in-law Pat. Dad was born at home in Fisherton on October 26, 1924. He lived in Fisherton all his life, except for when he was serving overseas in the Second World War, having signed up at the age of 17! After his return from overseas, he married Rosemary Hopgood and they continued to live at his birthplace farming and raising their children until 1966. At that time, we moved to the new farm (still in Fisherton of course) where he has lived up until his death. Dad was deeply committed to his family, friends and community. He was a founding organizer of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 158 at Hodgson and thoroughly enjoyed his association with the Legion. He lived life to the fullest - visiting family and friends, community social functions, especially old time dancing, playing cards, golfing, camping, fishing, etc. Dad was a person who enjoyed people. Funeral service will be held in Fisher Branch at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9 at the Immaculate Conception Church. Rev. Barry Bear and Rev. Wesley Barrett officiating. Active pallbearers are: Lance Rowley, Billy Cosens, Donavin LaRocque, Shayne Baziuk, Walter Dmyterko, Ken Davis. Inactive pallbearers are: Russell LaRocque, Bradley LaRocque, Harrison Todoruk, Riley Thompson. All his friends and comrades can consider themselves honorary pallbearers. The family wishes to express our extreme gratitude to Dr. McTaggart and the staff at Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital and also the St. Boniface Hospital ER for their care and effort. We know you tried your best. Dad, its hard to imagine life without you, but its even harder to imagine you not being able to live your life independently. We take comfort in knowing that you are in Gods hands now and you and mom are together again. Rest in Peace. IM FREE Dont grieve for me, for now Im free. Im following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My lifes been full, Ive savoured much. Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Dont lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now. He set me free. Author unknown In lieu of flowers, friends if they desire may donate to a charity of their choice. Fisher Funeral Home entrusted with funeral arrangements, 372-6271.
