MARGUERITE MERTZ (nee KALMAN) On May 5, 2001 at the Selkirk & District General Hospital, Marguerite Mertz, aged 81 years, of Selkirk, MB. Marguerite was born in Weyburn, SK on December 9, 1919 and came to Selkirk in 1954. She taught swimming for the Selkirk Youth Council at the Rotary Pool in the park for several years. She worked at Hookers Lumber and then at the Garry Theatre before retiring in 1985. She leaves surviving her beloved husband of 60 years, Harold; daughters, Beverly (Wayne) Harriott, Phyllis (Ed) Fawcett and Lannie; grandsons, Bradly, Craig and Gregory Harriott and Jeff (Sherri) and Tim (Tammy) Fawcett; great-grandchildren, Jared and Taylor Fawcett; a brother Don (Thelma) Kalman; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Frances and George; a sister Eleanor Carlisle; a brother George Kalman Jr.; a brother-in-law Buss Carlisle; and a grandson Kevin Fawcett. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, May 9 at 3:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with Rev. barb janes officiating. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Lindenschmidt, Bev Grand, Linda McMillan and the nurses at the Selkirk General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Selkirk General Hospital. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
