Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES WILLIAM McCALLEN James (Jim) McCallen passed away at Grace Hospital on May 7, 2001 at age 84. He was born on April 26, 1917 in Winnipeg and retired from Air Canada in 1977 after 33 years of loyal service. Jim was a longtime member of Deer Lodge United Church, Deer Lodge Curling Club, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 4, and an active participant in the Winnipeg Air Canada Retirement Club as well as the Air Canada Pionairs. A devoted husband, father, and loving grandpa, Jim brightened our days with his sense of humour and the twinkle that was never far from his Irish eyes. We will cherish the wonderful memories of the times we shared at his favourite place, the cottage he built at Caddy Lake. Jim is survived by his wife Margaret; his children, Jim (Alison), Joan, and Janet (Jack) Hurkett; his sister Beth Brandson; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Grace in 1982. The family would like to thank Dr. Colin Fletcher, the staff and many wonderful nurses of Grace Hospital, and the home care nurses for their devoted and compassionate care. Memorial services will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, May 10 at 12:30 p.m. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to Grace Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7, or to a charity of your choice.
