MARY ZOLKEWICH Our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away, May 5, 2001, at the age of 93. She was born in Western Ukraine, March 12, 1908, immigrated to Canada in 1928, settling in Poplarfield shortly after. Mary is survived by three children, Myrtle (Paul) Leduchowski of Regina, Mervin (Chris) Zalkewich of Gimli, Natalie (Ron) Sharp of Kelowna; daughter-in-law Gail Lischinsky of Winnipeg; sister Anne Murdock; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Stanley Lischinsky and an infant son; her parents, Dmytro and Justina Kuchma; son Michael Lischinsky; second husband Hnat Zolkewich; brother Joe Kuchma; and sister Natalie Hyduk. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Moms neighbour, Peter Ozarko for his indulgence, to Margie Podaima for her compassion, and the caring doctors and staff at the Arborg Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m., at the Poplarfield Community Hall, with interment to follow at Poplarfield Community Cemetery, Polarfield, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
