JACOB PENNER Jacob Penner passed away peacefully in his home, with his family by his side, on May 8, 2001. He was 79 years less a day. He leaves to mourn his wife Tina; his children, Katy (Henry) Thiessen, John of Vancouver, Wally (Rhoda) of Edmonton, Harold (Janice) of California, Werner (Anita) of California, Ingrid (Jim) Gamble, and Paul (Melissa) 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his siblings, Anne Klassen, Margaret (Karl) Fast, and Heinrich (Tina) Penner of Germany. Jacob was predeceased by his parents, Johann and Maria Penner, two brothers, two sisters and his brother-in-law, Henry Klassen. Jacob was born in Alexandrovka, Ukraine, and immigrated to Canada in 1948 with his family. He was very resourceful and held many different jobs to support his family. He enjoyed a simple life - visiting friends and relatives, Russian music, Sunday church followed by roast chicken dinners. His faith in God and his positive outlook on life was always evident in his smile and the twinkle in his eye. We give special thanks to the palliative care team, for their kindness and compassion during these difficult days. Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay, Winnipeg, with interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Public viewing only at the church prior to the service. If friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg R2H 9Z9. Your legacy is a kind heart and a warm smile. We love you. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
