ESTELLE BENDER (nee ROKOSH) It is with deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Estelle Bender on May 8, 2001, at Concordia Hospital, with her family by her side. Estelle was born on January 17, 1930 in East Selkirk, MB, where she spent her childhood. She was proud to have been chosen Valedictorian upon graduating from Happy Thought School. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Katherine Rokosh and brother Walter. With immense sorrow and regret, she leaves to mourn two sons, Lawrence (Wenda) and Douglas (Christine) and two daughters, Audrey and Karen. She will also be sadly missed by her two grandsons, Ryan and Graham; her brother Frank (Jean) Rokosh; and other relatives and friends. In her earlier years, Estelle enjoyed being active at St. Alphonsus Parish. Upon her retirement from Eatons and Silpit Ind., Estelle loved and looked forward to her summer hobby of gardening. She was also an avid reader and was proud of her extensive library. Family gatherings were highlighted by her cooking expertise and will be greatly missed. Estelle enjoyed her major role in the loving upbringing of her two grandsons. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 14, at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Fr. Pierre Wood, O.F.M., Cap. officiating. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Estelles memory to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, STN. Main, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9.
