GORDON PHILLIP FRANKLIN On Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at the Grace Hospital, Gordon Franklin, beloved husband of Edith passed away at the age of 85 years. Gordon was employed as a welder with the City of Winnipeg, Works and Operations Department. He served in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles during the Second World War, and was a member of their Association. Gordon was a resident of Charleswood for 52 years and very active in the Charleswood community. He was a very active member of the Charleswood United Church, the Royal Canadian Legion, Charleswood Branch, the Charleswood Horticultural Society and the Charleswood Curling Club. Besides his wife Edith of 58 years, Gordon leaves to cherish his memory his sons Gordon, and Bob (Sandra) daughter Ellen Jane Weir (Lawrie) of Melbourne, Australia; and grandchildren Jess Franklin of Winnipeg and Sarah Lassi (Allan) of Winnipeg, and Matthew and Avril Weir of Australia, and other relatives and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 18 at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., at Dieppe Road. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the third floor of the Grace Hospital for their kindness and care. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Gordons memory to a charity of choice.
