Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETTIE COHEN (nee GILMAN) Ettie Cohen passed away on Friday, May 11, 2001 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Ettie was born in Oxbow, SK on November 12, 1912 to Louis and Ida Gilman and spent her childhood on her parents farm. She moved to Winnipeg where she met and fell in love with Joe Cohen. Ettie and Joe were married on September 4, 1932. Over the next 40 years, she and Joe owned and operated a number of Winnipeg restaurants including The Fruit Row Lunch and Lindys Lunch, where they made many friends. Later, she worked for the Hudsons Bay Company and was a dedicated employee. Ettie was predeceased by Joe in 1987 after 55 years of devoted and blissful marriage. Ettie was also predeceased by her sister Eva Koffman in 1996. Ettie is survived and will be sorely missed by her children, Harley and Estelle Cohen and Myrna and Harry Rayburn; her grandchildren, Brent, Bruce (Karen), Murray, Gary, Carla and Lainee; her brothers Sam and Maurice Gilman; her sisters-in-law Doris and Sylvia Gilman; and by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Ettie was reunited with the love of her life, her husband Joe, when she was buried beside him at the BNai Abraham Cemetery on Mothers Day, May 13, 2001. Pallbearers were Bruce and Gary Rayburn, Marvin and Myles Kraut, and Sheldon and Norley Gilman. Honorary pallbearers were Brent and Murray Cohen. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff on the second and third floors of the Sharon Home. Also, for the care and kindness of her companions, Sally, Maggie and Emma.
