SADIE SIGURDSON (YASCHUK)
Date of Passing: May 11, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySADIE SIGURDSON (nee YASCHUK) Sadly on Friday, May 11, 2001, Sadie Sigurdson, wife of Lawrence Sigurdson, peacefully passed away at the Grace General Hospital, at the age of 72 years. Over the years that Mom and Dad were married, they enjoyed many summers at their cottage at Winnipeg Beach. In the past Mom had bowled at the St. James Bowling Alley in a league. She went back to high school at St. James Collegiate in 1987 as a senior student and graduated, winning a Scholarship for further education. Her family and friends were very proud of her. By going back to school she proved to herself just how smart and capable she really was. We are all so proud of you Mom! Throughout her battle with cancer Sadie still volunteered at the Deer Lodge Centre. She liked to help when she could and enjoyed meeting and being with other people. She was very courageous through her battle right to the end and demonstrated such strength and stamina. There is nothing but admiration for her. Besides Lawrence, her husband of 50 years of marriage, Sadie will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Barbara Sigurdson (Eugene Meissner), Gail Morgan (Doug Logan) and Stacey Sigurdson; granddaughter Melanie; grandson Ryan; sisters, Kay Halles of Winnipeg and Mary Hersey of British Columbia; brothers, John Yaschuk and Andy Jichuk both of Winnipeg and by brother Bill Adams of California. She was predeceased by one brother Clarence Aschuk. A private family funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Memories in Wojciks Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Just looked her up because I made a recipe that she submitted to a cookbook put out by the MBS Seniors Club. It was a terrific recipe. - Posted by: Angy Stimson () on: Feb 04, 2019
