Jake was born in Winnipeg on August 27, 1936. He was predeceased by his father Jacob, his mother Lena, his sister Mary Jane and his father -in-law Richard Kulman. Jake leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Marlene; his daughter Charlynn (Doug) Sparkes, grandchildren, Stephanie, David and Larissa Sparkes; his son Richard (Heidi) Friesen and grandson Tyson Friesen. Jake spent the last few years of his life with his companion Pauline Heudebourck and family. Jake is also survived by his sister Martha Blake (Jim) of BC, his brother Edward (Lena) Friesen of Headingley, mother-in-law Frieda Kulman, sister-in-law Diann (Carl) Prada, brother-in-law Brian Kulman, all of Calgary, brother-in-law George Miller of Edmonton, and many nieces and nephews. Jake completed high school and due to the early death of his father took on the job of helping his mother raise his brother and two sisters. During his lifetime, Jake worked at Auto Electric, Regent Autobody and most recently All-Fab. Jake loved working on cars and spent many hours tinkering in his garage. He also loved spending time with his in-laws, Frieda and Richard Kulman of Calgary. Many good times were spent going on camping trips, having wiener roasts and spending many Christmass together. In 1980, Jake and his family took their first trip to Hawaii. He loved Hawaii and went back a number of times. Jake also spent many hours trying to master the game of bowling. Then, there were those Corvette trips - many hours were spent going on Corvette outings with his family and friends. He was a very hard worker and cared and provided for his wife and children. When Jake got sick we suffered along with him. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at a later date. The Friesen Family would like to invite family and friends to an informal gathering at 719 Hoddinott Rd., East St. Paul, on Monday, May 21, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. to spend some time remembering Jakes life. To my Jake, Dad and Grandfather; we love you very much, thanks for all that you did for us and now Rest in Peace. Your hard journey of life is over. Weary is the road you follow, When your body aches with pain. Gently to the promised land God carries you home again. We couldnt say goodbye As you made your journey there. We only hope you knew, How much we really cared. We know the angels sing The garden is so sweet. Youve now come full circle, Your life has been complete. Death seems so final... But we know that some fine day We will all meet again, In a very special way. Farewell...God Bless you Dad & Grandpa Heidi Friesen CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
