AURORA GEORGE It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Aurora Kristiana, who passed away peacefully at the Father Lacombe Nursing Home, Calgary, AB, May 11, 2001 at the age of 93 years. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered for her abundant love, kindness, and understanding. With her graciousness and wonderfully prepared meals, she made the home a happy haven for everyone. Aurora is survived by her children, Rae Gault, Beverley (Allan) Pettigrew, Dr. Ronald (Leni) George, and Linda (Brian) McDonald, all of Calgary, AB; plus ten grandchildren; Kevin Gault, Kristen (Larry) Arnason, James (Alison) Pettigrew, Robert (Leanne) Pettigrew, David (Joann) Pettigrew, Mark (Dana) George, Shari (Craig) Barabash, Scott (Natasha) George, Bradley McDonald, and Craig McDonald; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Florence Stephanson and Irene Badali; and brother Brian Johnson, all of Winnipeg, MB; sister Eleanor Lovat of Montreal; sister-in-law Eva Parker of Mission, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Aurora was predeceased by her husband, William Edison (Ed) George in 1988; sisters, Anna Barton and Maria Harper of Winnipeg; brother Alfred Johnson of Trail, BC; and son-in-law Russell Gault of Calgary, AB. Aurora was born in Winnipeg, MB on November 19, 1907. She taught school in the Interlake district of Manitoba where she met and married her husband, Ed, in 1929. Aurora lived most of her life in Winnipeg except for 12 years in Saskatoon (1952-64), and the last four years in Calgary, where she was lovingly cared for by her eldest daughter Rae until January 2001, when she became a resident of the Father Lacombe Nursing Home. The family extends our thanks to Home Care and the staff of Father Lacombe Nursing Home for their wonderful care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Father Lacombe Nursing Home, 332 146 Ave. S.E., Calgary, AB T2X 2A3. A funeral service for Aurora will be held on Tuesday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m., at McINNIS & HOLLOWAYS "Fish Creek Chapel", 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB, with the Rev. Duncan Barwise officiating. Graveside service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. She will be forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
