THEODORE (TED) KIEHN Our beloved brother Theodore (Ted) Kiehn passed away peacefully Sunday, May 13, 2001 at the Emerson Personal Care Home at the age of 88 years. Ted was predeceased by his parents, August and Bertha Kein; three sisters, Helen, Martha, and Matilda; and three brothers, Louis, Reinhold, and Gordon. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Carol and her husband Ernie; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anne Weiss, Edna OHara, and Mabel Collins; and two brothers, Albert and Donald; also many nieces and nephews. Ted was born in 1913, the sixth of 12 children, at the family farm at Friedensthal. He worked on the family farm for many years. He worked at Pitchs Store in Emerson. In 1942, he joined the army and served with the Service Corps as a cook. After his discharge, he had the opportunity to go with the Muskox Expedition to the Northwest Territories. This was a most rewarding experience. Then he worked at the Manitoba Normal School and in Pine Falls. From 1953 to 1978, he worked at the R.C.M.P. barracks in Winnipeg. He retired in Emerson, purchasing his parents retirement home. He enjoyed horseshoes, bingo, dancing, and whist. He was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Friedensthal. The funeral service will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Friedensthal, northeast of Emerson, MB at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15 with interment to follow in the Friedensthal Cemetery. In memory of Ted Kiehn, donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. The family would like to thank the hospital staff and personal care home staff for their kindness and compassion and to Pastor Paul for his many visits and passionate care.
