IAN McCORMICK Without pain, our loving father Ian McCormick took his first steps on the stairway to heaven, Sunday, May 13, 2001, after 49 years with those who love him. Shortly after his birth on June 18, 1951 in Montreal, PQ, Dad moved to Winnipeg where he spent the majority of his life. His presence in the lives of his family and friends did not go unnoticed. To hear his voice and see his smile brightened everyones day, and will be sadly missed. Always having an ear for music and a love for learning, Dad was a dreamer and enjoyed sitting out in the garage watching the thunderstorms and listening to the rain. He had a beautiful way of describing the things around him, particularly the storms he loved. Many times the life of the party with his Irish Folk Songs and mesmerizing voice, he will live for eternity in the hearts of his daughters, Amanda and Corie; his wife Sylvia; his sister Bridget Burkowski; and brothers, Rod (Cherry) and Bruce (Peggy) as well as his numerous nieces and nephews, his guardian angel sky bear, and all who knew him. Ian was predeceased by his parents, Evan and Patricia McCormick. Funeral mass will be held at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Dr. on Wednesday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. with viewing one half hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ians memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
