JOAN BETTY McKENZIE It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother, Joan McKenzie, who passed away suddenly at home May 15, 2001. She will be sadly missed. Left to mourn are her children, Jacqueline McKenzie of Winnipeg and Caroline (George) Brett of Charleston, South Carolina and grandson Alex. She is also survived by her sister N. Lillie Smith; nephew Hugh Smith and family of Horsham, England; niece June Durrant and family of Surrey, England. Joan was born in Twyford, England December 7, 1919. She married Archibald McKenzie June 10, 1944 and immigrated to Canada in 1946. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 50 years. She was President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Flowers are gratefully declined, but donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, R3C 3R6 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, R3B 2H8.
