ALICE COOMBER (IRWIN) Peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2001 at Oakview Place, Mum passed away with her family by her side. Mum will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Winnifred, Anne (Bill), Georgina (Bud) brother Len; sister-in-law Violet; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and many good friends and neighbours. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1991; her parents; two sisters; two brothers; and son-in-law Alex. Mum was born in England on April 10, 1911, coming to Canada as a child, and settled in the Fairford area with her family. On November 9, 1931 she married George Coomber and raised their daughters living in Winnipeg, Morden, Dryden, and Fairford. She worked in the Food Services at Gypsumville Air Force Base. In 1973, they retired and enjoyed living in the small town of Neepawa. In 1983, they moved back to Winnipeg to be close to family and lived in St. James. Alice was a very outgoing person and was a member of Eastern Star and St. James Rebekahs No. 47. She was an avid curler and later on enjoyed watching curling. Mum loved people, her door was always open with the coffee on. Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 18 at 3:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the staff at Oakview Place, and a special thank you to the nurses and support staff of 3 North. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Alices memory to the charity of ones choice. "REST IN PEACE MUM" GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
