PHYLLIS EBY Suddenly, on Sunday, May 13, surrounded by her family, Phyllis (Ried) Eby passed away. Remembering her forever are her husband Lyle, daughter Debra (Ryan), son Vernon (Andrea) and granddaughters, Emily and Britini. She is also survived by her sister Margaret (Colin) MacDonald; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Corky) Steeves, Ellen (Doug) McEachern, Madeliene (John) Murray, Noreen (Ron) Kasprick; and brother-in-law Alvin (Barb) Eby, along with many nieces and nephews and multitudes of friends. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, William and Agnus Reid; her brothers, Bill and Stewart; and her in-laws, Clayton and Katherine Eby. Born on April 6, 1941, Phyllis was raised in Graysville by her parents, William and Agnus Reid. Phyllis followed her career in banking to Calgary and then returned to Carman. For the past 25 years Phyllis worked at Berkeley Newman Insurance Agencies and its various owners to the present Newman Hand Agencies. It is through her work as an insurance agent that she met and touched the lives of so many. Phyllis was dedicated to whatever she did; YBC bowling, Carman Judo Club, RCMP Advisory Council, Chamber of Commerce, and coaching baseball. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend was what Phyllis put ahead of everything else. More often than not, taking care of others took precedence over taking care of herself. She will be sadly missed but truly remembered by countless numbers of people. Funeral service will be held from the Carman United Church in Carman on Friday, May 18, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Larstone officiating. Interment will take place at Boyneview Cemetery, Graysville, MB. Lunch will follow at the Carman Community Hall. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Carman Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Box 61, Carman, MB, R0G 0J0, Doyles Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. Friendship To laugh and joke a bit and grasp a friendly hand; To love a bit and scold a bit, and know theyll understand; To tell ones secret hopes and fears, and share a friendly smile; To have a friend and be a friend - Is what makes life worth while. - Reprinted.
