WILLIAM ROBERT (BILL) FREND, F.R.I. Passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at Grace General Hospital. Bill was born in Winnipeg on June 17, 1916. He attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and upon graduation went to work for Winnipeg Silver Plate. He joined the army reserve while attending school. He joined the army in 1939 and in 1941 went overseas with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons. He served as R.S.M. in France and Holland. Upon his return to Winnipeg he was employed by the Attorney-Generals Office assisting in the Hong Kong Trials. He then transferred to Winnipeg Land Titles. He joined the firm of Aronovitch & Leipsic Ltd. where he worked for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He then went to work for a short period of time for S.S. Stevenson. While working for A&L, he taught the Real Estate Course evening classes at the University of Manitoba. He also was one of the founding members of Manitoba Chapter No. 6 of the Canadian Institute of Realtors. Bill is survived by his loving wife Eleanor; stepchildren, Jean (Ron Grenkow), Jim (Doris) Kodak; grandchildren, Dan Grenkow, Kim (Rob) Blake, Kevin (Theresa), and Brent Kodak; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Chelsea Blake; his niece Joyce Laye of Selkirk, as well as many other nieces and nephews. In keeping with Bills wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. If desired, donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Alzheimer Society, the Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Many thanks to Dr. R. Albak and his nurse Rose-Anne for the many years of care. A special thanks to Dr. S. Mould and to the nurses, Tracy and Wendy, who saw to his care and comfort during his final illness.
