JOSEPH CARRIERE It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph Eugene Carriere on May 13, 2001. He is survived by his children, Tamara Lynn and Jason Michael Joseph (Cheryl). He also leaves to mourn his loss four sisters, Marian Carriere of Yarmouth, NS, Therese Chaput (Jules) of Ste. Rose du Lac, MB, Josephine Cizik (John) and Anne Carriere, both of Winnipeg; two brothers, Hector Carriere of Lockport, MB and Oscar Carriere (Donna) of Lorette, MB. He will be sadly missed by his three grandsons, Ethan, Blake and Samuel Loiselle; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Anna Carriere (nee Demarcke) his brother Daniel (Doreen) and his sister Mary-Lou Boisjoli. Joe was born June 25, 1943 and he grew up in Lorette, MB. In 1970, he married Patricia Keam. They had two children and were married for 17 years. He had many hobbies and interests. He was a gifted musician, playing both the piano and guitar. He loved motorcycles and foreign cars, always on the look-out for a new toy! He was also a talented hobby photographer and he had quite a collection of rare and antique cameras. He was a wonderful teacher, and he shared his hobbies with his children. Joe worked as a long distance truck driver all his life. Most of his career was spent working for Reimer Express Lines. He also worked for Christie Transport and at T & T Trucking for the last two years, until the time of his death. The life of a trucker is not an easy one, but Joe made the best of it. He loved his job. Joe earned numerous safety awards, never having a single accident. We used to joke about how he could probably drive to Toronto blindfolded and backwards. He made many friends during his 34 years on the road, but he was always grateful when he returned home to his family safe and sound. Joe was a kind and generous man. Whether friend or perfect stranger, he would always lend a helping hand, or the last dollar in his pocket. He taught his children tolerance, patience and acceptance. They will always remember him as loving, strong, fearless, encouraging, protective and compassionate. He had an amazing way of finding the good in everyone and every situation. Prayers will be said on Sunday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 255 Stafford St. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial contributions can be made in Josephs memory to the Schizophrenia Society Inc. of Manitoba, 3 - 1000 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0N3. "Dont think of him as gone away His journeys just begun Life holds so many facets This earth is only one. Just think of him as resting From the sorrows and the tears In the place of warmth and comfort Where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing That we could know today How nothing but our sadness Can really pass away. And think of him as living In the hearts of those he touched.... For nothing loved is ever lost And he was loved so much." GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
