Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMILY MARGARET COLE (nee GESSNER) Peacefully on May 14, 2001, at Kildonan Personal Care Home, Emily (Millie) Cole passed away at the age of 89 years, with her son and daughters at her bedside. She was predeceased by her husband Bert; two brothers, Jack (Frances) and Charlie; and her sister Kay (John) son-in-law Don; brother-in-law Swede. She leaves to mourn her son Albert (Nancy) two daughters, Betty Steele and Joyce Dreger (Raymond) seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Her brothers, Art Gessner (Peggy) and Albert Gessner (Audrey) sisters, Caroline Larter and Sophie Gessner; and sister-in-law Joyce Gessner; and numerous nieces and nephews will also mourn her passing. Emily (Millie) was born to John and Anna Gessner on July 4, 1911 and resided most of her life in the St. Andrews/Parkdale area. Millie and Bert belonged to the West Kildonan Horticultural Society and the Winnipeg Gladiolus Society. Mom made beautiful corsages and arrangements from the gladiolus and flowers that Dad raised. She won many prizes at the flower shows held locally and in Winnipeg. She was a longtime member of St. Andrews on the Red Anglican Church and participated in ACW functions. Mom enjoyed her yard, baking and cooking for her family. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. Andrews Church, No. 3 St. Andrews Rd., St. Andrews, MB R1A 2Y4. Funeral service will take place at St. Andrews on the Red Anglican Church, St. Andrews, MB, on Saturday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Stephen Sharman and Rev. Robert Brownlee officiating. Cremation to follow. Special thanks to all Emilys caregivers at the Kildonan Personal Care Home for their loving, and caring attention that they gave Mom. Thanks also to friends and neighbours for their love, support and prayers over these past few days. Sheltered Safe in the Arms of God. Gilbart Funeral Homes in care of arrangements.
