Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURA THERESE KITCHEN (nee TETREAULT) Suddenly on May 20, 2001 at the Grace Hospital, Laura Kitchen passed away at age 83. She was predeceased by her husband Emery in 1986; sister Cecile, her husband Jim and sister-in-law Edith. Laura will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters, Beryl (Dennis), Joan (Brian), Janice (John) and Shelley (Gerry) grandchildren, Jason, Danielle, Bill, Kerri, Laura, Victoria, Lindsey and Erica; sister Louise (Al) and brother Ferdinand, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Laura was born April 13, 1918 in Marieville, Quebec. At an early age her family moved to Fort Garry, where she received her education. She was employed at the University of Manitoba and there met her future husband Emery. After their marriage Laura and Emery lived in various locations with Emerys postings during the Second World War. After the war they moved to Edmonton and Red Deer, AB. In 1955 they returned to Winnipeg. Laura was a talented bookkeeper who worked closely with her husband at the R.O.P. Hatchery and then at the Manitoba Broiler and Turkey Marketing Board, where she was an administrative assistant until her retirement. Laura was a devoted wife, mother, sister grandmother and friend. She took an active interest in her families and friends lives. She was always ready to help where she could and to celebrate their successes in life. She was involved in many church and school choirs and could always be counted on to volunteer her time with various church and charitable organizations. Laura was a long time member of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. She served in many positions with the Independent Order of Foresters, culminating with her becoming Chief Ranger. She enjoyed and spent many hours on her knitting, sewing and needle work. The family will cherish the items Laura created for them. Many will remember Laura for her deeply caring ways, mischievous sense of humour and joy of life. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace General Hospital for their compassion during Lauras last day. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. Prayers will be said on Thursday, May 24, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Ave. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, May 25 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, with a reception to follow at the church. Cremation will follow and Laura will be laid to rest in a private family service beside her husband Emery in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Cemetery and Crematorium 885-9715
