Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOY LAMOUREUX (nee STEVEN) It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Alice Lamoureux (nee Steven) wish to announce her passing on May 21, 2001 at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. Called "Joy" since birth, she was born "on the prairie" (St. James), the youngest child of John and Joan Steven. She attended Bannatyne School for her education. As a young girl, she happily helped her brother Jack with his flower stands. She worked at Salisbury House and Crescent Creamery. She was later employed at T. Eaton Co. where she worked faithfully for 25 years on the eighth floor Mail Order, until its closure. Mom will always be remembered for her gentle nature and loving spirit. She treasured her friends and cherished her family, whom she loved dearly and took immense pride in. No achievement was too small and she always had a word of encouragement. Mom always took the time to listen to anyone who needed a caring response. She was loved by all. Mom enjoyed knitting, gardening, crafts, camping and garage sales. She loved children, animals and taking long walks. She was an avid reader of many subjects including politics, native lore, genealogy, spirituality and current affairs. Mom was shy but very knowledgeable. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Joy was predeceased by parents, John and Joan Steven; brothers, Jack and Jimmy; sister-in-law Jean, and very special brother-in-law Vic Johnson. She was also predeceased by her loving fiance David Hay. Moms beautiful spirit will live on in her survivors. Lovingly remembered by daughters, Linda Dyck (Winnipeg), Wendy McClelland and special son-in-law Harvey (Red Deer, Alta.) four grandchildren, Tammy, Russell, Shannon and Kelli; six great-grandchildren, Kevin, Jessica, Mason, Joshua, Taylor and Erin. She also will be sadly missed by her dear sister Marion (May) Johnson and special friend Merv Thrush and families. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Donwood Manor for their special care and kindness to Mom. Also Dr. Ray Martens and the staff of "We Care Services". A celebration of Joys life will be held Saturday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Highway. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
