JACOBUS (JAKE) LEENDERT OVERBEEKE 1932 - 2001 Peacefully on Saturday, May 19, 2001 Jake passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 68 years. Jake is survived by his wife of 40 years, Evelyn, daughter Susan, son Jack, and son Michael (Theresa). Jake was predeceased by his parents Jakobus L., and Suzanna J. Overbeeke. He also leaves to mourn his brothers Lauwrens, Leendert, and Adriaan (Valerie), nieces and nephews, as well as other family members in the Netherlands. Jake was born August 9, 1932 in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, immigrating to Canada with his family in the 1950s. Jake worked for Regent Press (later the Prolific Group) as a letterpress operator, retiring in 1998. He was a very active and dedicated member of the Winnipeg House of Printing Club Craftsman for many years serving as a Roster Chairman and Club Historian. He was recognized many times for his dedication to the Art of Printing, being awarded Club Presidential Citations in 1987 and 1990 as well as the Craftsman of the Year Award for 1992-1993. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. from the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Stephens Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave. with Rev. Donna Mahussier officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the parish hall, concluding with interment at Brookside Cemetery. Special thanks to the nursing staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their care of Dad following his stroke. Flowers are gratefully declined.
