ABRAM FROESE Peacefully, after an illness of several months, Abram Froese of North Kildonan, aged 88, passed into the presence of the Lord. Abram Froese was born in Ukraine on September 1, 1912 and fled with his family to Canada in 1929. He married Mary Wiebe in 1935, and the couple lived in a number of farming communities in southern Manitoba before settling in Winnipeg in 1951. Soon after their move to Winnipeg, Abe and Mary joined the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, where they raised their five children and remained active members. Abe worked in farming and construction until his retirement in 1977. Thereafter, he kept busy with various carpentry and craft activities. His high energy and sense of humour persisted into his last days. Abram Froese was predeceased by two children, Marggie Jossul in 1975, and Arthur Froese in 2000. He will be sorely missed by his wife Mary; children, Abe (Jeanette) Froese of Vancouver, Mary (Jack) Shier of Vancouver and Hildi (Paul) Froese Tiessen of Kitchener-Waterloo; 14 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, and their families. Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. at McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue, with private interment prior to the service. Viewing Thursday May 24 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Highway. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the caring staff of Health Sciences Centre GD4. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Kidney Foundation would be gratefully accepted. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
