Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREW (ANDY) LAGIMODIERE Peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at Deer Lodge Centre, at the age of 81 years, Andrew (Andy) Lagimodiere, passed away. Andy was born July 17, 1919 in St. Boniface to Marie and Daniel. He attended Norberry School, and in his youth, he loved sports. His favourites were baseball and hockey, which he played at the Eclipse Club now known as Glenlee C.C. Andy joined the R.C.A.F., in 1941, being stationed at the airbases in Carberry and Rivers before going overseas. He was a rear gunner on the night bombers in the Second World War, and did two tours of duty, returning to Canada in 1945. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Royal Canadian Legion of which he was a member up until his hospitalization. In 1971, Andy married his life partner, Gay Heppner of Winkler, who predeceased him in 1992. After her passing, there was a void in his life, which he was never able to fill. They had a special relationship and he had his special love for her until the day he died. One of their favourite activities was T.V. bingo. They were also strong supporters of the St. Vital Mustang Football Club. In 1986, Andy retired from his 35 year career with Greyhound Bus Lines. His regular run was to Virden where he formed many lasting friendships. He drove thousands of miles without mishap. He loved to joke and party while playing cards. He was always there for his family and friends. All those lives he touched will sorely miss Andy. His sisters, Therese of East Selkirk, Anne Marie Horvath (John) of Thunder Bay, ON; in-laws, Mary Lagimodiere and Henry Cinq-Mars, godson Greg Hebert; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews who will lovingly remember him. He was predeceased by, his parents; sisters, May Nadeau (Ed), Lucille Lavigne (Gabriel), Eleanor Cinq-Mars; his brothers, Henry (Anna), John Baptiste (John) of Burnaby, BC, Raymond and Adelard. Prayers will be said on Monday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Viewing prior to mass at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Emile Roman Catholic Church, 556 St. Annes Rd., Rev. Fr. Rene Peeters presiding. Interment to follow in St. Vital Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends to follow at the St. Emile Parish Hall. Pallbearers will be Andys nephews, Paul and Lance Lagimodiere, Louis Lavigne, John Horvath, Greg Hebert, and Marc Cinq-Mars.
