GEORGE FREDRICK (FRED) VAN SLYCK May 18, 1910 - May 22, 2001 We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Fred Van Slyck. Fred was predeceased by his wife Wyn in May 1992, after almost 63 years of marriage. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Audrey (Bryson) Murray; grandchildren, Diane (Bob) Smith, Karen (Maurice) Duffy, David (Chris) Murray and Jeanne (Roger) Hudon; great-grandchildren, Ilia and Sean Murray and Marcus, Jamie, Roman, and Nicole Hudon; and nephew Gordon (Tina) Van Slyck. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Freds close friend Louise Page for her care and devotion. Fred was born in Suthwyn, MB, in the house that is now the Pioneer Home at Dugalds Costume Museum of Canada, which he and Wyn were instrumental in founding. His love for the farm, where he spent his life, was surpassed only by his love for his family and friends. We will also remember the great pride that he took in his home and yard. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Costume Museum of Canada (Dugald) at Box 38 Dugald, MB R0E 0K0 or to a charity of ones choice would be greatly appreciated. Funeral service will be held at Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., on Friday, May 25 at 2:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers include Paul Gross, Andy Tough, Bill Rennie, Ray Dewson, and Don Edmonds. Service to terminate at the chapel with reception to follow. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
