Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID GRIEVE BROWN Peacefully, on May 22, 2001, at Donwood Personal Care Home at the age of 90 years. Dave was born in Glasgow, Scotland, January 27, 1911, and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1924. They lived in East Kildonan and Dave attended Lord Wolseley School. He married Ida Butterworth in 1933 and they lived in Elmwood and North Kildonan all their married life. Dad was predeceased by Ida, April 30, 2000; and his parents, Elizabeth and Samuel Brown; and brothers, Henry, Albert, Lawrence, and Jimmy. Dad will be greatly missed by daughter Betty and son-in-law Ab Hansford; granddaughters, Diane (Joe) Bailey, Laura (Tom) Pelletier, and Barb (Paul) Edmonds; and great-grandchildren, Kate, Sarah, Kelsey, Kaija, and Sean; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad had many hobbies and enjoyed bowling and golf. He was very giving of himself, always helping out with the kids and his many friends. A lot of us have wood carvings and pieces of jewelry that "Bub" made. Dave worked at the T. Eaton Co. after he finished school until his retirement in 1976. Dave was very active in Boy Scouts for many years, serving as Cubmaster and later as Assistant District Commissioner for the Cubs in the East and North Kildonan area. He was in the Reserves with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders, receiving the C.D. in 1954. Dad was a faithful member of Gordon United Church, later Gordon-King, serving on many committees and boards. He was a Life Member of the A.O.T.S. mens club, also serving on the National Committee. At retirement, Dave and Ida spent 20 winters in their R.V. Park in Mesa, AZ, enjoying the many activities there, especially shuffleboard. The family would like to thank the great staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for their loving and personal care of Dad during these last three years. You are all so caring. Also thanks to John Graham and family for being so good to Dad. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey Street, on Friday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. A private interment will follow later. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dads memory can be made to Donwood Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood Dr., Winnipeg, MB, R2G 0V9 or a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
