G. HOWARD "HOWIE" BRUNNEN It is with deep sorrow the family announces the peaceful passing of their husband, father, and grandfather. Howard was born in Winnipeg on May 13, 1922. He spent his youth in Winnipeg and moved with his family to Scotland. There he joined the Armed Forces where he served in the Second World War. After the war he returned to Canada to work for the federal government. He met and married Jean Shewman on June 4, 1949. This year would have been their 52nd wedding anniversary. To this union they were blessed with two children. After retirement in 1984 Howard and Jean enjoyed many years at their cabin at Spruce Sands and made many lifelong friendships. Howard is survived by his loving wife Jean; son David (Dorothy) daughter Diane; brother Al (Helen) sister-in-law Alice (Ted) and his loving granddaughters, Bonnie and Jenna; grandsons, Bruce (Krissy), James (Vanessa) and three great-grandchildren who will always cherish his memory. At Howards request cremation has already taken place. There will be a memorial service on Monday, May 28 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In Howards memory please make memorial donations to The Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1.
