Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALCIDE RAYMOND MEILLEUR (September 13, 1921 - May 23, 2001) On May 23, 2001, our beloved father and friend passed on after a courageous battle with emphysema at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 79 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Ovila and Zephrina Meilleur; as well as sister Celine; brothers, Wilbrod, Ernest, Emery, Albert and Maurice. Alcide will be sadly missed by his wife Jeanne; as well as his seven children, Gisele, Suzanne (Todd), Norman (Gisele), Diane (John), Henry (Jackie), Murielle (Guy), Lucille; eight grandchildren, Rachelle (Troy), Remi, Damon, Alana, Sebrea, Dwayne, Krista-Kay and Joseph; two great-grandchildren, Casandra and Katelynn. He is survived by his sisters, Lea, Delia (Paul), Eva (Roger), Amanda (Leo) and brother Auray (Simone) numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Alcide worked at Furnasman Heating Ltd. until he retired at the age of 62. His first passion was playing cards, particularly bridge. He also enjoyed 10 pin bowling at the Club Laverendrye and went on numerous tournaments in Fargo, ND. He loved listening to old-time fiddle music and enjoyed dancing. He enjoyed the great outdoors and wildlife. After retirement he discovered his talent for woodworking and made many wood crafts such as wishing wells, which he gave to family and friends. Those who met our Dad will always remember him for his hearty laugh, his keen sense of humour, hard working ethics, good family values and his "joie de vivre". Prayers will be said with viewing on Sunday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 28 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing at 1:30 pm. at St. Eugene Roman Catholic Church, 1009 St. Marys Rd., with Rev. Fr. Marcel Toupin presiding. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Alcides memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for the wonderful care during his stay. In tears we saw you sinking We watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting, Until the very end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, "Come to Me". So when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back, To suffer that again. Our family chain is broken, And nothing stays the same, As God calls us one by one, Our chain will link again. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
