EVERETT WHITFIELD Peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at the age of 78, Everett passed away at the Grace Hospital with his loving family by his side. He leaves to cherish his ever loving wife of 56 years, Winnie; daughters, Wendy (Merv) Jesmer and Cindy (Dennis) Laurent; sons, Tom (Darlene), Allan (Allie), and Murray; grandchildren, Chad (Michelle), Kyle (Andra), Randy (Lindsay), and Richard. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Ruth (Dennis) McCreanor; sisters-in-law, Vera (Carm) Colvin and Thelma McDougall; brother-in-law Wilfred (Marge) Nelson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and everyone that knew him and loved him, especially Cuddles the family dog. He was predeceased by his parents Pearl and Tom; brother Jack; sisters, Muriel, Audrey, and Evelyn; mother and father-in-law Jean and Fred; and sisters-in-law, Beatrice and Jean. Everett farmed for 15 years in the Carman area. He worked at MTS as a mechanic for 25 years where he was one of the best in his field. He was an active member of the John Osborne Army and Navy Unit No. 1 where he enjoyed the Saturday afternoon meat draws with family and friends. He loved all the trips he took as a member of the Jolly Seniors at the Army and Navy. Everett was a loving, caring, generous and very strong willed man. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. We the family would like to thank the medical staff in the ICU Unit at the Grace Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion and a special thanks to Dr. J. Joshua. Funeral service will be held Monday, May 28 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with Reverend Michael Wilson officiating. Viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held at John Osborne Army and Navy No. 1, 300-1395 Ellice Ave. (behind S.I.R). Pall bearers will be Dennis Laurent, Brett Rocha, Jason Reid, Keith Fidler, Tim Fidler, and Lenny Hintz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Everett to a charity of your choice.
