OSCAR BRANDSON Oscar died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 10, 2001, at his home in Arborg. Oscar passed away at the age of 77 years. Oscar was born on March 31, 1923, of parents Sigurdur and Jodis Brandson (Siggi and Disa, the seventh of 10 children. After completing his schooling in Arborg he worked part time at the North Star Creamery. He joined the Army in January 1943 and served overseas in Holland and Germany until the war ended. In 1952 he became the head butter maker at the creamery where he had been working before. He continued working at the creamery until he retired in 1986. He won several awards for his fine quality butter. Oscars life revolved around his work and being with friends and family. He also loved the peace and quiet he found at home. He was a member of the Legion and served in the Colour Party for many years. Oscar was predeceased by his parents Sigurdur and Jodis; sisters, Lauga, Maria, Margaret, Jonina; brother Matt; survived by sisters, Sigrun, Huddie; brothers, Freeman and Thor. A private family interment was held on May 19 at the Arborg Community Cemetery. Pastor Otto Christensen officiated. The Royal Canadian Legion #161 conducted Legion Rites.
