MARY MALKO (nee KULYK) Peacefully, on Sunday, May 27, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer, Mary passed away with her family by her side, at the age of 67 years. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, and one brother. Mary is survived by her loving husband Mike of 50 years; children: Barb Bresson (Ed), Richard, Jo-Anne (Murray) Spark, Chris (Johnny) Galbichka, Debbie (Rich) Osiowy; grandchildren: Paul (Cindy), Steven (Cherie), Nicholas (Danielle), Hali (Brian), Colin, Jeff, Sharlene (Lenard), Heather (Jamie), Karen, Ian and Blair; great-grandchildren: Blair and Rachel; two sisters, Kay and Nettie; numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was born on July 18, 1933 in Oakbank, MB. Mike and Mary were married on October 28, 1950. They lived in Hazelridge for a couple of years, prior to moving to Dufresne where they raised their family and farmed. Mom enjoyed cooking for many holiday occasions. It gave her great pleasure to see all her family celebrate these times together. The continuous teasing and humour she shared with her sons-in-law meant a lot to her. Mary enjoyed yard work, gardening and took great pride in her flowers. Her love of nature also included all the animals on the farm. If the weather did not allow outdoor activities, you could find Mom busy in the kitchen making perogys, cabbage rolls or doing housework. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Paul, Steven, Colin, Jeff, Nicholas and Ian. Honorary pallbearers will be: Blair, Lenard and Brian. Prayers will be said on Thursday, May 31 at 8:30 p.m. and the funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 1 at 11:30 a.m. Both services will be held from Notre Dame-de-Lorette Roman Catholic Church, Lorette, MB. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. The family wish to extend their sincere thanks to: Dr. Hughes and Staff at Lorette Clinic, Steinbach Cancer Clinic, Dr. Fredette and Nursing Staff at Ste. Anne Hospital, Ste. Anne Home Care, Fr. Maurice Jeanneau, Fr. Edouard Bonin. Also a special thank-you to the family and many dear friends, who were an inspiration throughout her life, especially during this last year.
