SYLVIA NAIRN The family of Sylvia Nairn, nee Sadie Alperstein, are sad to announce her passing, on Tuesday, May 29, 2001. She earned a degree in Home Economics from the University of Manitoba in 1931 and then went on to Montreal to complete the requirements to become a dietician. In 1942 she married Joseph Nairn, and spent 28 years working alongside him in a corner grocery store in Winnipegs north end. Sylvia was a very special woman - sincere, hardworking and unpretentious. She was always passionate when it came to her family, who were nurtured by her unconditional love and her practical wisdom. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Nairn in 1987; and her sisters, Rita Feldman and Elsie Hyman. She will be remembered, and greatly missed, by her sister Clara Halprin; and her children and their families, Elaine, Norman, Marnie and Alisa Silverberg, Loreen, Perry and Debbie Silverman, Julie Silverman, Bard and Josh Borkon, Bruce and Sharon Nairn and Georgette, Crystal, Sean and Dustin. Sylvia was laid to her final rest at the Rosh Pina Memorial Park Wednesday, May 30, 2001. Pallbearers were her dear nephews and great-nephews, Murray, Jonathon, Jeff, Brian and Steven Hyman, and Harvey Nairn. Her family would like to extend their thanks to all the care givers that helped make her life more comfortable, including the staff at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, and Thorvaldson Care Homes. Those wishing to make a donation in her memory can do so to the charity of their choice.
