DESS WHITEMAN On May 28, 2001 at 9:35 p.m. Mom passed on peacefully in Gladstone Hospital surrounded by her son Gordon, his wife Faye, and her daughter Judy. Dess Whiteman was born Descima Olive Brant, on July 31, 1913 in Saskatoon, SK. A woman who used her time well, Mom was a teacher, activity director, super-visor at Riverside Residence, homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. In all, her warm loving character shone through. She was a strong supporter of the community, a member of the Gladstone Music Festival, Legion Auxiliary, IODE, Hospital Auxiliary, Riverside Residence, Wooly Wizards, ACW, All Saints Anglican Church Vestry and one of the church organists. She also took her turn delivering Meals on Wheels, canvassing for a number of charities, leading 4-H and teen clubs, working with a Senior Friendship Club, and playing the organ at Wednesday service at the Seniors Home. She was quite a lady! Dess was predeceased by her husband Lew, her brother Gordon, and her brother-in-law Sam. Mom will be sadly missed by her son Gordon and his wife Faye, and his children, Robert, Allen, Raine, and Roberta; by her daughter Judy and her husband Stu, and their daughter Krista; by her sister Alice; her brothers, Harry and wife Jo, David and wife Marion; her brother-in-law Bert Whiteman; many nieces and nephews and their families; and her many, many friends. A celebration of Moms life will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the All Saints Anglican Church, Gladstone. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to War-Amps Manitoba, All Saints Anglican Church, Gladstone, Seven Regions Palliative Care Unit, or to the Gladstone Music and Arts Festival. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the medical staff at the Gladstone Hospital, for their loving care of our Mom over the last two months. Your kindness was so greatly appreciated. And to Mom we say, "Safe journey" with all our love. The Family. Clarkes Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements.
