Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR DREGER August 2, 1931 - May 25, 2001 Suddenly after a brief struggle with cancer, Vic passed away at the Pinawa Hospital with his family at his side. He will be missed by his dear wife Stella of 50 years and their family: Dianne (Tim) of Winnipeg and their children, Michael and Andrew, Joyce of Montreal (Wayne of Winnipeg) and their children, Shannon (Tibor), Kevin and Stephen, Dennis (Janice) of Santiago, Chile and their children, Jay, Matthew and Cole. Vic was predeceased by his parents, Willhem and Olga and his brother Hubert. He is survived by his brother Ernie of Warren, MB; nieces and nephews and many other family members. Vic was born and raised in Tenby, MB. He joined the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (RCHA) in 1949 and married Stella in 1951. Vic and Stella were stationed at many military bases, including Shilo, MB, Debert, NS, Camp Gagetown, NB, Hemer, Germany and finally in Winnipeg. He left the RCHA and joined Atomic Energy of Canada as a Security Guard at Pinawa in 1966, moving the family to Lac du Bonnet, MB. He retired in 1986 and took great joy and pleasure in his park-like yard on the Winnipeg River. He loved to fish, golf and sit for hours admiring the view of the River from his kitchen window. Vic became ill in 1998 but still managed to travel to visit his family and he especially enjoyed his trip to Chile. Vic was an active and grateful member of AA for many years and worked hard to assist others in their recovery. In lieu of flowers, friends can make a donation in memory of Vic to a charity of their choice. The funeral service will be held on May 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Russell Funeral Homes in Lac du Bonnet with Pastor Robert Murray officiating. Cremation has taken place.
