GUSTAV (GUS) WOLFRAM As the day ended with a glorious sunset on Friday, May 25, 2001, so to ended the life of Gus Wolfram at the age of 66 years. His struggle with cancer has finally come to an end. He has closed his eyes to go to sleep and find peace. To all those who knew him, Gus was someone important and special, a loving husband to his wife of 42 years, Evelyn; a caring Dad to his sons, Greg (Susan), Ron (Debbie) and Darren (Rosie) an indulgent Grandpa to Sam, Ben, Mercedes, Kristen and Sherry; a cherished son-in-law to Ellen Langthorne and a supportive brother to Albert (Adeline), Rudy (Elaine), Alvina and Pauline. To remember his life and spirit, and to mourn his loss, Gus also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Olga; his sisters, Martha, Helen, Emily and Lily and his brother Henry. Gus was born to a closely knit family of 10 brothers and sisters in River Hills, MB on March 31, 1935. He grew up on the farm and moved to Winnipeg in his late teens. He and his brother Al were the owners of the Blue Boy Restaurant on Main Street for over 39 years. He also served the business community as a member of the Board of Directors of North Main Street Merchants. He married his wife Evelyn on December 12, 1959 and together they raised a family of three sons. Reminiscing about old times and story telling were favourite ways for Gus to pass the time. He also enjoyed spending time at the lake, tinkering with vehicles, listening to music, playing the guitar, golfing, curling, travelling to Florida and just spending time with family and friends. Gus family wishes to thank all the nurses, doctors and health care workers who gave freely of their time and compassion to care for him during his illness. Flowers are gratefully declined, however, memorial donations in the name of Gus Wolfram may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or a charity of ones choice. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, He closed His arms around you And whispered, "Come to Me". In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, Our hearts were almost broken, You fought so hard to stay. What you suffered, you told us few, You didnt deserve what you went through, Tired and weary, you made no fuss But tried so hard to stay with us. But when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful, free from pain We could not wish you back To suffer all that again. So treasure him Lord, in your garden of rest, For here on earth, he was the very best. God Bless You, Amen Viewing will be held from the Chapel at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 28. Funeral service will also take place at Glen Eden at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre and Patio.
