EDWARD M. CARRUTHERS It is with my deepest sorrow I announce the passing of my father. Edward M. Carruthers passed away suddenly at the age of 78 on Friday, May 25, 2001 at Deer Lodge Center. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his son Ken and granddaughters, Jessica and Rebecca. He was born September 4, 1922 in Monominto. He is predeceased by his parents, Alvin Carruthers and Mable (Cropley) two sisters and his wife Vivian Elizabeth (Gunnarson). He is survived by two sisters and seven children. Garvin (Maureen), Myra (Victor) Nishi, Alvin, Ken (Debbie), Chris, Norm (Leslie) and Ebba (Ken) Troschuk. He also has seven grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew, Dyani, Owen, Kevin, Jessica and Rebecca. After being badly wounded in the Second World War and spending two years at Deer Lodge from (1945-1947), he was released and continued on with life despite his injuries. He drove truck and cab most of his life, his last job being with Dart Transfer. He retired at 64 unable to continue to work because of his injuries. He resided at the Westbrook Hotel, where he had numerous friends, and later moved to his home town of Anola (Seniors Complex). When he could no longer live on his own he went back to Deer Lodge in 1997. He will be fondly remembered and forever loved and sadly missed. Funeral is at Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 1. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, phone 222-6677.
