FAYE ESTELLE GORENSTEIN (GELFAND) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother and sister, on May 31, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer, at age of 82. Faye will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Avrian Boroditsky and Donna Cohen, son-in-law Mark Cohen; grandchildren, Shane and Joel Boroditsky and Neal and Lesley Cohen; brothers, Sydney (Florida), Tommy (Lennie), (Vancouver), and sister Sadie Spivack (Toronto) as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey in 1999 after 52 years of marriage. Faye was born on May 7, 1919 in Winnipeg. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister, always putting her family before herself. She was an astute business woman and an active volunteer for the Arthritis Society and Big Brothers of Manitoba. Friends and family will remember Faye as a cheerful, optimistic person with a keen sense of humour. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 1 at Rosh Pina Synagogue. Pallbearers were Mark Cohen, Shane Boroditsky, Joel Boroditsky, Neal Cohen, Mark Shuster and Paul Zaidman. Those wishing to make a donation in Fayes memory may do so to CancerCare Manitoba, or to a charity of their choice. Our family wishes to thank the caring and attentive nursing staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, fifth floor, unit 3, as well as her very special doctors, Dr. David Meyrowitz and Dr. Jack Lezack for doing all they could to help Faye and her family through this most difficult time. Thanks also to our many relatives and friends for your unbelievable support. You have been a shining light in a very dark tunnel.
