Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS ELAINE ANGUS July 7, 1917 - May 29, 2001 The family of Phyllis Angus wish to advise her many friends that Phyllis passed away comfortably and quietly the evening of May 29, 2001. Phyllis, born in 1917 had a wonderful and fulfilling life. She travelled the world but she lived her entire life in Winnipeg. Predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Angus in 1978 she is survived by two sons John (Janice) of Winnipeg and Gordon of Guelph and four grandchildren, Colin and Susan of Winnipeg and Stephanie and Brie of Guelph. She also had two young Japanese friends (Yoshi and Hiato) who became part of the family and provided much enjoyment. Phyllis was very proud of her father Sydney A. Campbell, long time Principal of Lord Roberts School and a pioneer in the development of the Fort Rouge Curling Club. Mom was particularly proud of her involvement at the Fort Rouge Curling Club, where she eventually rose to become President of the Ladies Curling Club. She was very interested in sports, particularly golf and curling and was a lifelong member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club where she enjoyed golfing in her senior years. She had exciting opportunities to travel extensively in the last twenty years combining many trips to the World Curling Championship in various parts of the world with extended vacations with friends. She also spent time in Australia, China and Japan. She wintered in Florida where she made many friends and enjoyed her winters golfing and socializing in the warm sun. Many thanks to Glynis Funk, a companion to Phyllis who became the daughter she never had. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the thoughtfulness and consideration of Judy Coleman and the staff of the Special Needs Unit of Golden Links Lodge who provided many hours of comfort and support to Phyllis in recent years. Those that wish may make a contribution in Phylliss name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10 - 110 Donald St. Cremation at Phyllis request has already taken place and the family has arranged for a memorial service to honour her life to be held at Augustine United Church, 444 River Ave. (at Osborne) at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8.
