GLADYS CECELIA ELSIE GRAHAM Peacefully on June 3, 2001 Gladys Graham, in her 79th year, passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital with her daughter Janet at her side. Predeceased by her husband Angus in 1996. Daughter of the late Edwin and the late Gladys Yarnton. Loving mother of Richard (Louise) daughters, Janet Ollson, Heather (Randy) Ford and Jeanne (John) Reykdal; loving grandmother to 13 and great-grandmother of two. Also survived by her sister Betty (the late Harry) White of Kent, England and Albert (Lyn) Yarnton of Adelaide, Australia; sisters-in-law Kathy and Edith Graham and numerous nieces and cousins in Canada, England and Australia. Gladys was born on April 25, 1923 and raised in Deptford, England. In 1943, Gladys joined the Womens Royal Naval Service and served England for the duration of the Second World War. Near the end of the war, Gladys met Angus, a Canadian serviceman stationed in England and they married on September 30, 1944. In 1946, Gladys joined Angus in Canada and together the travelled Canada and Europe through Angus postings while he was in the Canadian Armed Forces. Gladys was a member of The Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire and a long-time member and past-president of The British Wives Club. Her employment history was vast and she took pride in all the positions which she held. She was extremely proud of being a founding member of Women in New Employment which was established in 1974 through a Government-funded project. She also worked for many years with Inter-City Public Welfare and Winnipeg School Division No. 1, retiring in 1993. In accordance with Gladys wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 730 McPhillips St., Father R.W. English officiating. A reception will follow with interment at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society, Canadian Diabetes, Heart and Stroke and the Kidney Foundation, or a charity of your choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
