R. EDWARD TURNER R. Edward Turner, 83, suddenly passed away due to heart comp-lications at Concordia Hospital on June 1, 2001. Edward was born on February 7, 1918, at West Green Harbour, NS. Before coming to Winnipeg, he and Bessie were lifetime Nova Scotians who had a great sense of identity in Southern Nova Scotia. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Bessie, son Raymond (Kathy), daughter Anne (Larry), and daughter Gina. He is also survived by his brothers, John and Lewis; and sisters, Bernice and Georgie; plus 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who will always cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his daughter Wilma and son John, known as Jack to family and friends. Edward was an avid outdoorsman spending many happy hours fishing. As a Law Enforcement Officer, he took great pride in providing 23 years of dedicated service with the Nova Scotia Department of Land and Forest. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed many social occasions with friends. In 1992, he and Bessie moved to Winnipeg to be closer to family. In making Winnipeg their new home, Edward and Bessie associated with the East Kildonan and River East congregations of Jehovahs Witnesses, where both of them were dedicated workers with the congregation, sharing Bible knowledge about Gods Kingdom which will establish a paradise on Earth, where there will be no wars, sickness, death and sorrow. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, 937 Gateway Rd., with Mr. John Bodner officiating.   • AS A YOUNG GIRL, HE TAUGHT ME WELL. HE WAS A KIND LOVING MAN WHO DID LOVE TO TELL STORIES. HE ALWAYS CALLED ME HIS LITTLE JOHN JOHN. A GREAT MAN THAT WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY THOUGHTS. I WAS MAILED HIS LAW ENFORCEMENT CERTIFICATES MANY YRS AGO. THEY ARE NOW WITH HIS GRANDSON MICHAEL IN WINNIPEG. I NOW WORK FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THE STATES AND MAN A DISPATCH AND 911 DESK.
