STELLA GAUER "Change in time of Prayers" On Friday, June 1, 2001, Stella Gauer passed away at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 91 years. Stella was pre-deceased by her husband Ernest in August of 1980 and by her brothers, Jim and Tom and sister Elsie. She is survived by her son Richard and wife Marie of Coquitlam, B.C.; her daughter Judith Berthman and husband Don of Winnipeg; her granddaughter Jessica Gauer and husband Craig Zoretech of Port Moody, B.C.; her grandson Rick Gauer and wife Sandy; great-grandchildren, Breanna and Bryce of Pender Island, B.C.. Also surviving are her brother Bernard Kowalsky of Qualicum Beach, B.C., her brother Clifford Kowalsky and wife Rosemary of Winnipeg; and special sister-in-law Olga Kowalsky of Winnipeg and many other relatives and friends. Stella was born and educated in Winnipeg and was employed by the T. Eaton Company, retiring from the Mail Order in 1975. She worked hard during her life and always enjoyed people stopping by to visit. On February 1, 2001, Stella celebrated her 91st birthday amidst her family and friends. She loved to bake and to crochet and to share these special things with everyone. She lived her last three years at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre among caregivers who became very special people in her life. Flowers are gratefully declined, however, donations may be made in Stellas memory to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, the Parkinson Foundation of Canada or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Prayers will be said on Thursday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. in St. Vital Catholic Church, Pembina at Manahan. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. also in the church, with Rev. Fr. Patrick Morand the celebrant. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
