CLAIRE MAVIS BLAIR (nee CAMPBELL) It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Claire Mavis Blair on June 3, 2001. She was the beloved wife of the late Jim Blair. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Carolyn (Frank), son Lawrence (friend Lesley), son Andrew (Doreen) grandchildren, Jeannie, Glen, Belinda, Barbara, Ryan, Brandon, Justin; and great-grandchildren, Deangelo and Cassandra. Claire was born in Winnipeg on August 31, 1927 where she spent all of her life. She had several jobs, but she was very proud of being a comptometer operator, first at the Bay and then at Crane Supply. She later left to take her LPN course. After completion, she worked at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. Patients without family or visitors would always be welcome to come and visit at her home. She later left nursing to start Art Glasswork with her husband, Jim, which she continued until her passing. Claire was an active member of the Fort Rouge Legion #97 Ladies Auxiliary for the past 30 years. She spent most of those years as secretary. She recently lost her dog, Mickey, who was her companion for 19 years. She enjoyed watching TV and spending time with her new dog, Red. Special thanks to the nursing and support staff at the Victoria Hospital for the humane and respectful care given. Memorial service will take place at St. Albuns Church, Rathgar and Osborne, Thursday, June 7 at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Fort Rouge Legion. In lieu of flowers, in keeping with her nature, donations may be made in her name to either the Canadian Lung Association or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
