JAMES TAYLOR CRITCHLEY July 1, 1913 - June 4, 2001 After a lengthy illness, our dear father, grandpa, and friend, passed away peacefully in Winnipeg, at the age of 87. Jim, a native of Radcliffe, England, was one of seven brothers who grew up loving soccer and water polo. As a young man he started out as the accounting clerk in the office of Whitehead & Pooles, and subsequently joined The Royal Lancashire Fusiliers, British Army. After being stationed in Malta for most of the Second World War, he immigrated to Canada, where he was truly blessed with his lovely wife Phyllis. He spent a great deal of his time working for the Corps of Commissionaires, as well as the Royal Canadian Legions in Virden and Brandon. He was a devoted member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 49 years. After his retirement, his focus was the enjoyment of his family, especially his grandkids, his love of classical music, gardening and a good mystery. He leaves to mourn his daughter Susan (Dave) Korstrom; his two wonderful grandchildren, Jamie and Lauren; daughter Jill (Doug) King in Australia; his brother Bob (Lois) Holt (England) his nieces, Beryl (Ted) Hall (England), Pat (Roy) Axford (England) sisters-in-law, Hilda and Nancy Critchley; and many other relatives in the United Kingdom. Close to Jims heart were his special friends in Brandon who fostered his daughter after the death of Phyllis in 1965. Best friend Howard (Andy) Anderson (deceased), and wife Aurora (Bobbie), and children, Lynn (Frank) McKinnon, Karen Anderson, Joan (Stu) Lorencz, Gordon (Alvina) Anderson, Larry (Carol) Anderson, Kelly Anderson, Rob (Trish) Anderson, along with Andys and Bobbies many grandchildren.
