Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA VAN TORNHOUT Peacefully, on Monday, June 4, 2001 with her family by her side, Eva left this earthly life and was joined again with her husband, Gabe in heaven. She leaves to mourn three sons and one daughter, Gabe (Sharon), Dan (Gladys), Dave (Angela), Marlene; nine grandchildren, Chris (Donna), Robin Hulme (Doug), Kirk, Sean, Karen Hughes (Terry), Dean, ("Sam"), Tracy Fedyck (Bruce), Jacquie Tustin (Paul), Jason Savage (Connie) and 12 great-grandchildren, Erin, Jay, Megan, Courtney, Douglas, Brittany, Lyndsay, Cassie, Myles, Madison, McKenna and Ryden. Eva was predeceased by her loving husband Gabe in 1968 and her first born son, Gabriel August in 1930. Eva was born in St. Boniface in 1908 and married Gabe in 1928. They lived out their lives together in the Winnipeg vicinity. Eva was a true partner with Gabe owning and managing the North Kildonan Groceteria and Post Office on Henderson Hwy. from 1946 to 1958. Evas greatest love was her family and she enjoyed every minute spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gardening, sewing and crocheting were her main hobbies. Nothing pleased her more than working in her yard, making clothes, and crocheting afghans for her family members. The family wishes to thank all the Concordia Hospital and Concordia Place Care Centre (CPCC) staff for their excellent compassionate caring toward Eva and her family. Special thanks to Peggy, and all the CPCC 4th floor "D" wing staff, Emergency and N3 East staff who lovingly cared for Eva and were extremely supportive to her family. Eva has been cremated and a memorial service is to be held at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Parish, 252 Dubuc St. (St. Boniface) on Thursday, June 7, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery, 501 Plinquet St. "Only a mother,grandmother, and great grandmother like you could be all the things you were. Just by being your wonderful self, you taught more, gave more, and loved more than anyone could expect of a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother."
