PETER (BUNNIE) SAINT-CLAIR DANIELS April 7, 1927 - June 5, 2001 It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Peter Daniels on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at the age of 74. Bunnie now rests eternally with his beloved wife Myrtle, who predeceased him on October 16, 1993. He was also predeceased by his parents, Rachel and Peter; brother Stanley; sisters, Winnie Murdock and Violet Murdock, and two sisters in infancy. He is survived by sisters, Ruby Olafson and Gladys (Robert) Sanderson of Selkirk, Marina Daniels and Doreen (Don) McPherson of Peguis; his adopted sisters, Bernice (Purvis) Fontaine of Hillside Beach and Thelma Daniels of Peguis; adopted brother Danny Daniels of Peguis; his stepson Norman Spence; and special nieces, Delores (Dodie) Rourke of Winnipeg and Ayla Sinclair of Peguis. Bunnie was born in Peguis and worked at various jobs until he finally found his true calling as a commercial fisherman. He relished his life on the lake and encouraged his many nephews to join him at various times. Peter was known for his generosity, teasing, humour, and story telling. He was also an avid antique collector. His favourite place was his fishing camp at Canoe Pass where he spent many happy times with his wife and many friends who stopped by to visit. Bunnie and Myrtle were married in Winnipeg on November 24, 1975 and resided in Selkirk until their passing. Many thanks to Frank Orvis and Jerry Paulson for their compassion and care during the last few months. Also to the ambulance staff and staff at the Selkirk General Hospital. Peter will also be sadly missed by his special friends, Carol and Wayne, his many fisherman friends, and his pet companion of 14 years, "Mitty". Prayers will be said on Thursday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 8 at 2:30 p.m., also in the chapel, with Pastor Ray Settee officiating. Interment in St. Peters Cemetery. At Peters request, there will be no flowers. Donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Active pallbearers will be Kendall McPherson, Mickey and Allen Sanderson, Doug Daniels, Dennis Murdock and Lawrence Olafson. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Cavers, Melvin Whiteway, Wayne Griffin, Gerald Bennett, Bert Govereau, Dan Cochrane, Theodore Murdock, Willy Favel and Ian Cook. Surely Jesus loves fishermen for He chose them for His own, To be with Him and learn from Him and someday share His home. It must have been their trust in God and patience He found rare, That keeps them very near His heart and ever in His care. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
