CHARLES RONALD MERCER Charles Ronald Mercer passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at the age of 61. Charles was born on Hecla Island on October 24, 1939. He took his schooling at Hecla and at an early age started commercial fishing. He was still a young man when he had an unfortunate accident and was disabled until the time of his passing. Charles liked playing cards, listening to music, and had many friends who he used to visit with and enjoyed their company. Charles was predeceased by his parents, Hildur and Charlie; brothers, Richard, Raymond, Arthur and Lawrence; sisters, Violet and Margaret. He leaves surviving his brother James (Bertha) of Selkirk; sisters, Florence Helgason of Selkirk and Irene Seymour (Elmer) of Seymourville; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Cremation has taken place and burial will be held at a later date at Hecla. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the H.S.C. for all their care and kindness, to his special friend Marvin for his help and caring, and to his nephew Larry Mercer for looking after Charles needs.
