HANNA ZACK Hanna passed away on Tuesday evening, June 5, 2001, surrounded by loved ones. She died in peace and with dignity at the Fred Douglas Lodge which had been her home the last four and one half years. Many thanks go to the wonderful staff, including Moms many caregivers on Willow. Hanna was predeceased by her parents, her older brothers, Ben and Max and by her devoted husband Abe in December 1997. She is survived by her siblings Becky Rosner, Shirley Levine, Sylvia Frankel, Elken Rosenhek and Ruby Sideman; by her children, Larry (Stephanie), Diane and Deborah; by her grandchildren, Louise, Shannon, Sarah, Mark and David. She is also survived by many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins and long-time friends and neighbours. Hanna was born at the Hirsch Colony in Saskatchewan on September 27, 1921. The Rosenheck family was dealt a heavy blow by the death of husband and father Louis at a young age and, unable to manage the farm in the difficult thirties, they moved to Winnipeg where the older siblings, including Hanna, found jobs in the factories. Hanna met Abe and they married in 1945. The lived in "The House that Zack Built" on Mountain Avenue for more than 50 years. Hanna was a kind-hearted and generous person and remained so right until the end. We will cherish her memory always. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery, McPhillips Street (north of Templeton), Cantor Arky Berkal officiating. A reception will follow at the Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows. Donations in Moms name may be made to the Fred Douglas Lodge or a charity of your choice.
