Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMILIA INGIBJORG MARKUSSON It is with great sorrow the family announces the peaceful passing of their dearly beloved wife, mother, amma and lang-amma, Emilia Ingibjorg Markusson, on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at the Gimli Betel Home. Emilia was born in Geysir, MB, on August 28, 1907. She married Johannes Markusson in 1927 and together they farmed and raised their family in Arnes, MB. In the early 80s they retired to Gimli, residing the last few years in the Gimli Betel Home. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Sigurros Sigursteinsson; five sisters and two brothers; her daughter-in-law Margaret Markusson; grandson Lorne Markusson; and grandson-in-law Gerry Marks. Emilia leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, her beloved husband Johannes; her children, Mundi (Ethel), Albert and Sigurros (Robert) Kristjanson; grandchildren, Shauna Lee (Bob), Gail, Jo-Ann (Steven) Daphne (Keith), Diane, Larry (Marie), Cynthia (Richard), Janet (James), Sandra (Terry), Roberta, Chris (Jennifer) as well as 21 great-grandchildren. Mom was a kind and loving wife, mother, amma and langamma who was very devoted to her family. She was a wonderful homemaker and always welcomed everyone into her home. Mom never had a bad word to say about anyone, only finding the good in everyone. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church, with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hnausa Cemetery. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Chapnick and the staff at the Betel Home for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hnausa Cemetery.
