Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS EDITH DOWD (nee CHALMERS) May 30, 1929 - June 6, 2001 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, Doris Edith Dowd, at Souris District Hospital on Wednesday, June 6, 2001. Mom now rests eternally with her beloved husband, David Henry, who predeceased her November 20, 1999, and her parents, Edgar and Mary Chalmers. Left to cherish her memory and love her are her two daughters, Cheryl Janz (Murray) of Souris, MB and Janet Jolen (Frank) of Grosse Isle, MB; and four grandchildren, Heidi, Barry, Jesse and Chad. Also brothers-in-law, Ken Dowd (Shirley) of Glenboro, MB, Lloyd Dowd (Helen) of Eston, SK, Tom Dowd (Maxine) of Winnipeg, MB; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and numerous friends and neighbours. Also her special friend and companion Mr. Jack Laye of Selkirk, MB. Mom was born in Baldur, MB on May 30, 1929. She married Dad September 24, 1949. They farmed in the Glenboro and Baldur areas for many years. We all moved to Winnipeg in 1963. Dave and Doris then moved to Grosse Isle in 1977. Mom worked many years at Middlechurch Personal Care Home. She retired in 1987. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Willmor Chapel, Glenboro, with Captain Dan Hughes officiating. Interment will take place in the Glenboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation may be made in memory of Mom to Epilepsy Manitoba, 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5.
