Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHERINE (KAY) BUDZAN (ZAPOTOTSKY) On Tuesday, June 5, 2001, Kay passed away peacefully at Fred Douglas Lodge with her family at her side. Kay was born on May 30, 1915 in Libau, MB. She married Walter Budzan in July 19, 1938 and farmed in Libau until 1948, when Kay moved to Winnipeg. She was employed by several companies and worked at Swift Co. in the poultry division for 25 years. Kay was devoted to her family. She took great pride in her vegetable garden and yard work. Kays hobbies were crocheting and needle work, which she made for her children and grandchildren. Kay is survived by her daughter Sally Shykoluk (Alex) two sons, Eddie Budzan (Jane), Terry Budzan (Marilyn) nine grandchildren, Karen Kulbaba (Ken), Ted Shykoluk (Alison), Gerry Shykoluk (fiancee Margaret MacDonald), Brenda Adair (Brent), Sheryl Blahuta (Andrew), Brian Budzan (Tammy), Darreld Budzan, Todd Budzan (Dana) and Greg Budzan; seven great-grandchildren, Kevin and Kelli Kulbaba, Kyle and Brittney Blahuta, Alysa Adair and Riley and Benjamin Budzan; her brother Pete Zapototsky (Mary) sisters-in-law, Minnie Zapototsky and Anne Zapototsky. Kay was predeceased by her husband Walter; parents, Alex and Maria Zapototsky; brothers, Dan, John, Mike and Steve Zapototsky; sisters, Eva Fedak, Pearl Pless and Ann Miller. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and nurses aids, volunteers and staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for six years of devoted attention given to our mother. Thank-you to Joyce McLean for making sure that Mom was fed and being a friend. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 11:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with Rev. Deacon Nicholas Kohuch officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ted Shykoluk, Gerry Shykoluk, Darreld Budzan, Todd Budzan, Greg Budzan and Brent Adair. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kays memory to Volunteer Department at Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2X 0B8.
